"Hello Tomorrow" at David Brower Center

Hey there - I'll have work in this upcoming show in Berkeley. Check it out! The show runs from June 16 - September 2.

Opening Reception: June 16, 2011 · 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Special presentation in the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Theater
Free and open to the public

RSVP required: contact@browercenter.org or (510) 809-0900 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (510) 809-0900 end_of_the_skype_highlighting ext. 116

The Brower Center asked Bay Area artists to respond to David Brower’s quote: “Have a good time saving the world. Otherwise, you’re just going to depress yourself.” With over 500 submissions, we were inspired by the sheer breadth of the work. From traditional painting to installation to the conceptual avant-garde, this show is a powerful indicator of how pervasive social, environmental, and political concerns are among artists and the community at large. We hope that these 22 works — imaginative, contemplative, and playful — will also inspire our visitors to consider how we will all live in the future.

Artists include: Mari Andrews · Timothy Armstrong · Claire Brandt · Noah Breuer · Mark Bryan · Hagit Cohen · Alicia Escott · Lisa Espenmiller · William Harsh · Ryan Hendon · Anthony Holdsworth · Grant Johnson · Michael Kerbow · Kimberlee Koym-Murteira · Alexis Laurent · Jeff Long · Viviana Paredes · Ruth Santee · Judith Selby Lang and Richard Lang · Esther Traugot · Michelle Waters · Stephen Whisler

Jurors: Lucinda Barnes, Chief Curator and Director of Programs and Collections, Berkeley Art Museum · DeWitt Cheng, freelance art writer · Amy Tobin, Executive Director, David Brower Center

Gallery Hours: Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Spring shows...

Life has been crazy with non-art related busy-ness like work, dealing with my parents' house, dealing with sick cats, dealing with cats who don't like each other but live under the same roof...you get the drift. But I'm still managing to make some time for art! And I'm in a couple of wonderful shows this month...

The new little piece below is one of three I'll have in "Delicious", a large group show of food-oriented art at Studio Gallery in SF. The show opening is Sunday, March 20 and the show runs March 16 - April 10...

It's called "Catch of the Day" and is 5" x 7" acrylic on wood.

I also am delighted to have my work included in "Alice in Wonderland II" at the Hive Gallery in Los Angeles, which runs through March 26.

And, if you're in L.A. I have some paintings at wonderful Cactus Gallery in Eagle Rock. I love this gallery and Sandra, the owner is so supportive of artists, so stop in if you are nearby! And maybe I won't go so long between blog posts next time (let's not hold our breaths).
